Getting Started
What is Rekora?
Rekora is an app that helps families preserve their stories through voice recordings. It automatically transcribes your conversations, builds a family knowledge graph, and provides AI-powered insights from your family’s collective wisdom.
How do I get started?
Download the app, create an account, and start your first “Circle” (your family group). Then invite family members and begin recording stories together.
Is Rekora free?
We’re currently in beta testing, and the app is free during this period. Pricing for future features will be announced when we launch publicly.
Recording & Transcription
What’s the best way to record a story?
Find a quiet space, get comfortable, and just start talking! You can use our question prompts to guide conversations, or simply let stories flow naturally. The best recordings are often casual conversations.
How accurate is the transcription?
Our AI-powered transcription is highly accurate for clear speech in English. It can identify different speakers and handles most accents well. You can always edit transcripts to correct any errors.
Can I edit transcripts after they’re created?
Yes! You can edit any transcript to fix errors or add clarifications.
How long can recordings be?
There’s no hard limit on recording length. Record as long as the conversation flows naturally.
Family & Circles
What is a Circle?
A Circle is a private space for your family group. All recordings, people, and stories within a Circle are shared only with Circle members.
Can I be in multiple Circles?
Yes! You might have one Circle for your immediate family and another for extended family or close friends.
How do I invite family members?
Each Circle has a unique invite code. Share this code with family members, and they can join your Circle instantly.
What roles are available in a Circle?
| Role | Permissions |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full control, can delete the Circle |
| Manager | Can manage members and settings |
| Member | Can record, view, and contribute |
The Oracle (AI Features)
What is the Oracle?
The Oracle is our AI-powered feature that synthesizes insights from your family’s recorded stories. Ask questions like “What would Mom say about this?” and get thoughtful responses based on recorded stories, traits, and family wisdom.
How does the Oracle know what family members would say?
The Oracle learns from recorded stories, extracted personality traits, speech patterns, and the relationships in your family tree. The more stories you record, the more insightful the Oracle becomes.
Can I exclude someone from Oracle responses?
Yes. You can set up “Person Exclusions” in your settings to prevent specific family members from being included in Oracle responses.
Is the Oracle always accurate?
The Oracle provides thoughtful suggestions based on available data, but it’s not perfect. Think of it as a helpful tool for reflection, not a replacement for actually talking to family members.
Privacy & Data
Who can see my recordings?
Only members of your Circle can see recordings made within that Circle. We never share your content with other users.
Is my data used to train AI?
No. Your recordings and transcripts are never used to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete individual recordings, people, or your entire account. Deleted data is permanently removed.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored securely in Australia (AWS Sydney region). Audio files are encrypted at rest and in transit.
Technical Questions
